Regular readers of this site may recall an individual who played a relatively minor role in the ‘pyramids' affair, Dr. Mensur Omerbashich, with whom I exchanged a few emails in 2007. Dr. Omerbashich, a geophysicist, claimed that he offered an alternative interpretation of the Visoko ‘pyramids'. Although critical of some aspects of Mr. Osmanagic's work, he fastened onto Osmanagic's idea of terraformed pyramids, which Omerbashich attributed to the Romans. According to his blog the Romans made (…)

Mr. Osmanagic says that he is opposed to ‘mainstream' science, that he supports ‘popular' science (or populist science? See here : “I am not interested in the approval of elite scientists. This project is for the people”), and can use a whole interview to criticize that same ‘mainstream' science. Nevertheless, he seems unable to refrain from arraying himself in a whole panoply of academic or pseudo-academic degrees – a thirst for ‘mainstream' recognition that, coming as it does from someone (…)

"An outstanding team of experts"; that's the phrase used by Mr. Osmanagic in an advertising magazine (en and de), destined for the European "élite”, to introduce his new team. The reason why the team could hardly be anything other than new is because there aren't all that many of the original project participants now left; it was not long before the line-up of scientists originally lured to the project by Mr. Osmanagic made themselves scarce (see here or here). Since the summer of 2008 (…)

One more
Mr. Osmanagic definitely has no luck with the archaeologists. He could not obtain, from the few Egyptian archaeologists and egyptologists he managed to invite to his "international scientific conference" (en), more than a few vague conclusions (en) saying that it is necessary to "answer the origin of the Bosnian pyramidal hills" and postponing any "scientific validation" of his theories to a possible second conference in 2010. At the same time, BHDani magazine published, in its (…)

"WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OBJECTIVE AND UNBIASED JOURNALISM?" was the title of an article published on Mr. Osmanagic's Foundation website (en) in December 2007. It was an attack on the journalist Vuk Bacanovic, of the magazine BHDani (bs), following the publication of articles disclosing various facts that proved of some embarrassment for the Foundation, in particular this article about an interview with the former geologist to the team. The Foundation article accused Vuk Bacanovic of both (…)

Mr. Osmanagic's Foundation had announced, at the end of July 2007, a visit to Visoko of Russian geophysicists, Professors Khavroshkin and Tsyplakov (news in English (en) and in Bosnian (bs)).
After the mineralogist Aly Abd Barakat in June 2006, and the egyptologist Mohamed Ibrahim Aly in September 2006, a new group of Egyptian scientists arrived in Visoko to lend their help to Mr. Osmanagic.
